Berwick Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: In this unit students will study different genres of immersive interactive environments; investigate the principles and techniques of game design and game play, story building, concept art and character building. In addition, they will create models of level design and organisation and develop an effective interactive user interface.
Assessment: 100% Individual Assignments. Assessment tasks will require students to review and document a diverse range of interactive immersive environments, plan and design a brief for an interactive game, design and build a 3-D interactive environment. All students must attend 80% of tutorials. Students who do not meet this requirement will be assigned a unit grade based on their total assignment mark divided by 2.5
Contact Hours: The student workload requirement is 12 hours per week for 13 weeks. Students will attend 2 hours of lectures/seminars and one 2 hour tutorial/studio session per week. Students are expected to spend 8 hours per week on individual study and assignment work, including library, research, design and computing laboratory work beyond these normal class hours.
