Synopsis: This unit will provide students with more advanced coverage of the hardware and software tools which are used in multimedia systems. It will focus principally on tools and technologies to support animation, 3-D modelling and rendering, but will also develop further the basic concepts of multimedia technology and the hardware and software tools which were covered in Multimedia Tools 1 and Multimedia Tools 2. The subject will emphasise the application of the tools in practice, rather than the technology itself.
Assessment: Two minor discussion group assignments (50% total weight) One major research paper assignment (50% total weight)
Contact Hours: 4 hours per week (one 2 hour lecture and one 2 hour tutorial in a computer lab)
