Synopsis: Students will be required to undertake project development work, both by themselves and in groups. The projects will aim to give them practice in identifying multimedia opportunities and specifying product and system requirements, and in building multimedia products and system components. Project work will be carried out under the supervision of a member of academic staff, and wherever possible the projects will be drawn from real life clients.

Assessment: Practical assignments and project work: 100%The most significant component of the subject assessment will be practical assignments and project work which will aim to produce multimedia products or components of multimedia systems. Students will be required to prepare a folio of work throughout the year to demonstrate their proficiency in various tasks. Assignment and project work tasks will be done both individually and in groups.

Contact Hours: The workload will be 24 hours per week for 13 weeks, but the proportion of this time devoted to different activities will vary throughout the semester. On average, the weekly load will comprise: 2 hours of lectures/seminars; 2 hour tutorial/laboratory sessions 12 hours of work on studio work, demonstrations and practical assignments; 8 hours of reading and individual study time
