Synopsis: This unit aims to provide students with an understanding of the principles and terminology of database management systems and database design so that they are able to design, implement and manage efficient database systems.This is a second level core to the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems to be introduced in 2004.
Assessment: Two assignments (40%) comprising one individual database design and SQL queries assignment (20%); one group database system implementation project (20%) Three hour written examination (60%)
Contact Hours: 4 Hours per week (one 2 hour lecture and one 2 hour tutorial/laboratory session).
Prerequisites: MMS1801 or MMS1802
Corequisites: Nil
