Synopsis: With the emergence of high end digital visual and audio equipment, non-linear editing software and 3D software, film-makers have been compelled to converge "high concept" with "low budget". This unit will explore techniques of screen writing, directing, producing, cinematography, production design, editing, sound, music and special effects with the aim of providing students with rigorous and informed understanding of their own development techniques.
Assessment: Assignments: 3 assignments (100%) A script writing task (20%) A 1000 word analysis of a specific production technique (20%) A short video production assignment (60%)
Contact Hours: 12 hours per week for 13 weeks. Students will attend 1 hour of lectures and one 3 hour tutorial session per week. Students are expected to spend 8 hours per week on individual study and assignment work, including library work beyond these normal class hours.
Prerequisites: Bachelor of Multimedia prerequisite: MMS2407 Bachelor of Multimedia Systems prerequisite: MMS2410
