Caulfield Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: This subject introduces students to the methods and processes involved in multimedia authoring. The basic methods of multimedia authoring are introduced, including variables, branching, iteration, conditional statements, binary logic and debugging. High level GUI authoring systems are supplemented by text-based scripting environments. Awareness of terminology and concepts particular to multimedia authoring in project documentation.
Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.uunderstand the application of multimedia authoring and scripting tools in the development of multimedia; 2. understand the role of authoring, scripting and programming in multimedia production ; 3. have an awareness of a number of multimedia authoring software tools; 4. be able to analyse a multimedia design problem and identify an appropriate scripting solution; 5.be able to use high-level multimedia authoring software for multimedia scripting; 6.be able to use terminology and concepts particular to multimedia authoring in project documentation; 7. understand and be able to apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study
Assessment: Exercises: 40%. Major project: 60%
Contact Hours: 12 hours per week including; 1 hour lecture, 2 hour tutorial and 9 independent study hours per week
