Synopsis: Develops students' proficiency to academic and professional level. Attention is focused on the use of Korean in various genre areas such as business, journalism, science, law, tourism, and so on. Socio-cultural aspects in these areas are also explored.

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. Use a variety of grammar patterns and expressions with greater accuracy. 2. Read and interpret texts from various genre areas. 3. Speak and write effectively in Korean in the areas of the student's own study and interests. 4. Understand socio-cultural aspects of Korea reflected in various genre areas.

Assessment: Ten short written papers (300 word each): 25% + Written paper (1500 words): 20% + Class participation: 10% + Examination (3 hours of written 25%, spoken 20%): 45%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) per week

Prerequisites: KOR4060 or equivalent
