Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Develops students' proficiency to academic and professional level. Attention is focused on the use of Korean in various genre areas such as business, journalism, science, law, tourism, and so on. Socio-cultural aspects in these areas are also explored.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. Use a variety of grammar patterns and expressions with greater accuracy. 2. Read and interpret texts from various genre areas. 3. Speak and write effectively in Korean in the areas of the student's own study and interests. 4. Understand socio-cultural aspects of Korea reflected in various genre areas.
Assessment: Five short written papers (200 words each - total 1000 words): 35% + Written paper (1000 words): 20% + Examination (2 hours): 25% + Speaking (equivalent to 500 words): 20%
Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) per week
Prerequisites: KOR3080 or equivalent
