Synopsis: As for JRN2901.
Objectives: On successful completion of this unit students will have: 1) Critical and analytical understanding of the key theories in international news reporting; 2) Understanding of global journalism practices; 3) Ability to examine issues facing international news reporting, with reference to particular regions; 4) Understanding of the historical relationship between Western media, in particular the Australian media, and Asian media;
Assessment: Assignment 1 Comparative essay (1500 words): 30% + Assignment 2 Media article (1000 words): 20% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
Contact Hours: 2 hours (one 1-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial) per week
Prerequisites: JRN1902 and JRN1903 or equivalents
Prohibitions: GSC3901, JRN2901
