Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Introduction to engineering dynamics. Application of particle mechanics to material handling equipment, manufacturing system equipment design and facilities equipment design. Application of rigid body mechanics to belt and pulley systems, manufacturing process machines, conveyor belt systems, robotic arms, cranes and winches, fork lifts and elevators. Introduction to vibrations. Application of vibrations to spring support systems (weighing platforms) and screening systems in material handling.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Tutorial/laboratory: 30%
Contact Hours: 22 lecture hours, 22 hours laboratory and practice classes
