Synopsis: In this unit, students will complete an independent investigation, related to previous studies arising from Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation / Bachelor of Education units. These interests will be followed in various ways; research or project which synthesizes existing scholarship or reports and discussions in the application of theoretical knowledge. Students will develop a proposal under the guidance and support of the unit coordinators in units already completed.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and research a problem or need; or acquire an advanced coaching qualification and integrate theory and practice by keeping a reflective journal which synthesises aspects of your learning; be involved in, and take ownership of a project of your choosing that will enhance your professional development; write a high quality paper or report related to the focus of the study chosen.
Assessment: Proposal (ungraded, compulsory requirement, 1500 words): 25% + Written report (4000 words): 75% + Evidence file (ungraded, compulsory requirement)
Contact Hours: 3 hrs per week
Prerequisites: EDF2601, EDF2602, EDF2603, EDF2604 or equivalent
