Synopsis: Individual coursework in technical and conceptual areas chosen by the student. Students investigate a personal theme using one or a combination of the materials and processes introduced in the previous units, resulting in the development of an individual, well-resolved practical folio containing original visual images and demonstrating selective and confident use of skills and techniques.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to show that they have developed a level of skill to express personal concepts through their chosen medium which would include painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and/or computer art; be able to communicate verbally about their chosen medium and its visual outcomes; be able to show that they are capable of incorporating various art processes as a means of visual expression; have completed expressive works and have experienced the process of arranging these works at a public exhibition.
Assessment: A folio of major works: 80% + resource folder: 20%
Contact Hours: 2 hours per week
Prerequisites: EDF2122 or permission of the lecturer + offered bi-annually + Levy fee
