Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Physics of circuit interruption; circuit breakers; current chopping and restriking voltages; underground cables; transmission line theories; calculation of surge performance; lighting phenomena and its affect on a power system; high voltage measurement and testing; insulation materials; non-destructive insulation tests; insulation condition monitoring of electrical plant; partial discharges.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignments and Laboratory work: 30%
Contact Hours: 26 lectures, 26 hours of practice classes and practical work
