Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Introduction to electronics systems and components. Instrumentation systems: transducers, signal conditioning subsystems; instrumentation, isolation and current mode amplifiers; interference control: grounding and shielding. Data acquisition systems: V/F and F/V converters; multiplexers, sampling and track-hold amplifiers; data acquisition subsystems. Filters: Butterworth, Chebyshev filters; active, universal and switched-capacitor filters. Oscillators and timing systems: LC and crystal oscillators; phase-lock loops. Power supply systems: linear and switched-mode regulators.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
