Synopsis: Introduction to the principles of database systems and their organisation and management. The problems of logical data description, organisation and manipulation are addressed. Various data models, query languages, and issues of integrity and security are introduced.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 80% + Assignments: 20%
Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week
