Synopsis: This unit will provide core knowledge of, and the basic skills for, using intelligent techniques for business modelling. Intelligent techniques and systems considered will include evolutionary computing, neurocomputing, fuzzy techniques, evolutionary neural systems; neurofuzzy systems, fuzzy expert systems, and hybrid intelligent and conventional systems. Students will apply the acquired techniques to develop models for solving real business problems in tutorials and an assignment, and gain hands-on experience with current industry standard intelligent techniques software packages.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 60% + Assignment: 40% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit
Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week
Prerequisites: Completion of 24 points of postgraduate information technology and/or finance units
