The
course offers an integrated study of computer-based management systems, with
dual emphases on IT and business. It aims to provide students with an
understanding of information technology applications in business, within the
context of a general grounding in management education. Graduates are expected
to obtain employment in an IT consultant or business analyst role.
The Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 of Malaysia requires
students to take three units: Malaysian studies, a national language (there is
one unit for Malaysian citizens and another for citizens of other countries),
and either Islamic studies (Muslim students) or moral studies (other students).
The
pass degree includes both compulsory and elective units. In general, a maximum
of 60 points of first-year units may be counted towards the degree. Students
must complete at least 36 points of second-year units and at least 36 points of
third-year units. All business systems units are worth six points.
In addition to the core units, students may complete electives to a total value
of 48 points or one-third of the degree.
Student must complete the following core and elective units (refer also to 'Course map 2 - Bachelor of Business and Information Technology' at the back of the IT faculty section in this handbook).
Students are required to take at least one electronic commerce unit and at least one business analysis unit in the course of their degree. Electives are chosen depending on students' interests and career goals.
