Course description

This course is designed to meet the needs of teachers from all sectors who aspire to school principal appointments.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold either:

• an approved three-year bachelors degree in a relevant field with a credit average in the final year, or
• an approved three-year bachelors degree (or equivalent) and a fourth year of study, or
• an approved four-year bachelors degree, or
• qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.

Course outline

The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units (up to four specialist elective units and/or one general elective unit):

Specialist elective units

• EDF6821 Policy and governance, and/or
• EDF6822 Leadership and organisation, and/or
• EDF6823 Management and change, and/or
• EDF6828 Resource management

General elective units

• One postgraduate general elective unit

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (School Leadership) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit).
