This course provides formal academic study across a range of disciplines relevant to the needs of organisations operating in the global environment. It provides high-level training in the fields of international business, diplomacy, economics, law and contemporary politics. The course is aimed at individuals who presently work, or who hope to work, in both the public and private sectors and who wish to increase their understanding of the international environment in which they operate. It is designed for individuals working in the government sector engaged in the implementation and provision of policy advice in the areas of foreign affairs, trade and business-related issues. In the private domain, the course is designed for individuals who are operating, or looking to work, in an international capacity in both the corporate or not-for-profit sector.
(a) Students must complete four core units (24 credit points):

units (12 credit points) from:
(i) units listed in (b) above or other graduate units taught by the Department
of Management providing the selection meets overall course objectives and
receives program coordinators approval, or
(ii) in place of one elective taught by the Department of Management, students
may select one unit from other departments in the Faculty of Business and
Economics, or other faculties of Monash University, providing the selection
meets overall course objectives and receives program coordinator approval.
Students should complete four 9000-level graduate units before commencing
5000-level units.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and Trade
may apply for admission to the Master of Diplomacy and Trade and would be
eligible for advanced standing for eight units.
