Off-Campus Learning Guide 2005

Master of Family Medicine (Clinical)

Course code: 2677 + Off-campus (Department of General Practice, East Bentleigh) + Full-fee-paying course: $TBC (Australian residents); $21,750 (international students)

The course aims to provide general practitioners with the opportunity to master their clinical skills within a general practice setting.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be registered medical or general practitioners with a minimum of two years of postgraduate experience and preferably in active general practice. Special consideration will be given to suitably qualified overseas graduates residing in their own country. It is recommended that students should have completed the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine award prior to proceeding onto this course.

Attendance

A number of units will require students to visit the department for a weekend workshop.

Course structure

The 72-credit-point course is conducted over approximately 18 months full-time or three years part-time. The coursework includes three compulsory core units as listed below together with a mix of elective units that are similar to those offered in the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine:

Assessment

Assessment consists of coursework participation, formal assignments and projects and minor thesis
