Art and design practice in Britain A (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:1.recognise British art and design from different periods; 2.identify the issues underpinning the form of this art and design; 3.appreciate original examples of this work; 4.understand the relationship between past and contemporary art forms in England; 5.see how the broader context of Modernist and Post Modernist culture has shaped British art practice in the twentieth century.

Assessment: Two reports (1250 words each): 50% + Research journal (2000 words): 50%

Contact Hours: 104 hours of lectures, tutorials and site visits on location in Europe and 52 hours of independent study

Prerequisites: TAD1101, TAD1102
