Medical imaging and methods 2 (CT) and digital image processing 2 (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: This subject provides students with an understanding of the scientific principles underpinning computer tomography (CT), its associated instruments and protocols, positioning methods and radiation protection principles. Students will extend their knowledge base developed in the digital image processing and the information technology components of RAD2052 (Medical imaging and methods 1 (DVI) and digital image processing 1). On completion of the subject, students will be able to conduct and evaluate contrast radiographic examinations of the central nervous system, will know how to conduct, modify and evaluate conventional and spiral CT examinations of the head, chest, abdomen and spine, will be able to recognise, evaluate and optimally display anatomical structures and their relationships on axial images.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 60% + Tutorial (SOLAR) activities: 20% + Laboratory (physica/imaging) reports: 20%
