Modelmaking and workshop practice (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.have a knowledge of the range of modelling types and their applications; 2.be able to make simple models of the design objects in the workshop; 3.have a general understanding of fabrication techniques and finishing processes involved in the execution of prescribed design modelling projects; 4.have a working knowledge of the application and operation of manual and semi automatic equipment; 5.understand occupational health and safety policy requirements of the modelmaking workshop environment and be able to demonstrate safe working practices on a selected range of equipment.

Assessment: Progressive assessment: 60% + Examination: 40%

Contact Hours: 4 hours of taught classes plus 8 hours of individual study per week

Prerequisites: DGN1001
