Building materials and construction B (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students should: 1.be familiar with the Building Code of Australia at a basic level; 2.have knowledge of the performance of major materials and the methods of applying them, used in the construction of interiors; 3.understand the basics of quantity surveying methods and simple cost estimation; 4.be capable of applying the above in an interior design project with construction documentation and specifications; 5.understand and be able to apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study.

Assessment: Examination: 40%. Project assignment: 60%

Contact Hours: 12 hours per week, including; 4 hours in class and 8 independent study hours per week

Prerequisites: IAR1211 and OHS1000

Prohibitions: IAR2202
