Theory and practice of community development 2 (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Objective 1. Demonstrate through supervision and in practice a capacity to carry through to completion a project that requires skills in the changing roles of group facilitator. This includes sensitivity to the increasing independence of learners as well as diverse personalities and histories surrounding local issues and interests. Objective 2. Demonstrate an advanced capacity to reflect on and evaluate their own skills in collaborative learning and group facilitation through written, oral and or visual presentation of their project in collaboration with group members.

Assessment: Assignment to demonstrate understanding of two stages of group development following establishment through discussion of the collaborative progress of the group as well as changes in personal and community development. This piece of assessment may be presented as a video, audio, visual display, panel presentation or written documentation demonstrating values, knowledge and skills learnt and outcomes achieved (4,000 words): 80% Objectives 3 & 4 will be demonstrated + Involvement in peer and professional regional network 20%. Objective 4.

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week (flexibly)

Prerequisites: EDF5602 Facilitating community development

Corequisites: EDF5603 Collaborative engagement in communities
