Method and Practice of Teaching History B (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: In broad terms this unit offers a practical focus on teaching and learning strategies that assist secondary students to develop historical knowledge; identify links between the past and the present; develop life, career and wider study skills through development of the skills associated specifically with the study of History and develop values, attitudes and behaviours consistent with positive global citizenship.

Assessment: Unit of work: 50%; Oral presentation: 50% + Student participation in the unit is vital and there is a minimum attendance requirement of 80%. Teaching practice also forms a major part of the assessment of this unit. Grad.Dip.Ed.(Sec.) students must complete at least 45 days teaching practice; BEd. students must complete at least 50 days. Students in both courses must gain a rating of satisfactory for teaching practice.
