Method and Practice of Teaching History A (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: The broad objectives of this unit offers a practical focus on teaching and learning strategies that assist secondary students to develop historical knowledge; identify links between the past and the present; develop life, career and wider study skills through development of the skills associated specifically with the study of History; and develop values, attitudes and behaviours consistent with positive global citizenship.

Assessment: Formal lesson plan: 50%; SOSE-Stream/History Resource Guide: 50% + Student participation in the unit is vital and there is a minimum attendance requirement of 80%.

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: Students must have at least a minor sequence in history from a recognised institution.
