Child Development 4 - Exceptional Children (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students should have the knowledge and understanding of: 1. The specific needs of children with exceptional abilities and their families. 2. Rationale to teach students with all disabilities in inclusive settings. 3. The skills needed to function as a team member working in partnership with families and other professionals. 4. The ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational programs for children with exceptional abilities. 5. An awareness of the impact a child with exceptional abilities may have on the family and educational setting. 6. Strategies to work with students with behavioural problems.

Assessment: Written assignment (1200-1500 words): 40% + Case study 40% (1200-1500 words) + Class presentation: 20% (Equivalent to 800-1000 words).

Contact Hours: Equivalent to 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: EDF2201 & EDF2202
