Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have knowledge and understanding of the main theories and contemporary issues of child development; the ages and stages of development in different domains including important milestones; the diversity of human growth and development; a range of learning theories; the likely impact of culture, family, genetic inheritance and life experiences on development; their own abilities, attitudes, and values; implications for curriculum, planning and assessment.

Assessment: Essay and practical folio (maximum 3000 words): 60% + Examination (equivalent 1000 words): 40%
