Clinical dietetics I (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: At the completion of the course the students will 1. Have an understanding of the medical knowledge and dietetic principles of the following clinical conditions - obesity and overweight - cardiovascular disease - Type 2 diabetes mellitus 2. Have gained the ability to apply these principles to nutrition and dietetic education practice 3. Have the ability to undertake the dietetic management of - obesity and overweight - cardiovascular disease - Type 2 diabetes mellitus 4. Understand the principles of planning, implementing, managing and evaluating dietetic case management and the role of the dietitian in the health care team 5. Understand the clinical outcomes of dietetic management of these clinical conditions

Assessment: Examination: 60% + Analysis in tutorial sessions 10% + Class presentation: 30%

Contact Hours: 6 hours per week clinical experience

Prerequisites: Completion of Year 2 Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, completion of BND3021, BND3041.
