Admission requirements

The BSW is a `two-by-two' course. All social work graduates must complete a total of four full years of tertiary studies to be eligible to join the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The Monash course accepts students with a minimum of two completed years of a university degree, and adds two years of study (full-time or the equivalent part-time) focusing on core social work studies.

These prerequisites are prescribed by the AASW. Potential applicants are encouraged to consult with the department to ensure their planned studies meet these requirements.

The BSW is offered part-time and full-time, both on-campus and by off-campus learning.

Police checks

Students are required to undergo police checks prior to undertaking both field placements (practicum).
