Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to understand and evaluate different perspecitives on the nature of community; understand and evaluate the difference models of community work, their ideological bases and the skills they involve; and apply this knowledge to the practice of community work within social work setting.

Assessment: Interview with community development worker (1000 words): 20% + Essay (3500 words): 80%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: SWK3240, SWK3120. Social Work units are available only within the context of the Bachelor of Social Work degree, or with permission.
