Graduate Certificate of Business (Banking)

Course code: 1766 + Gippsland campus + Normally one year part-time + Course director: Ms Judith Tennant + Total credit points required: 24 + Attendance not required

General course information

The graduate certificate has been designed to provide graduates in banks and non-bank financial institutions with intensive training in banking and finance units. The certificate is only available through off-campus learning mode.

Course structure

The Graduate Certificate of Business (Banking) consists of four units, normally taken over one year of study.

First semester

(a) Three core units:

(b) One elective unit: any elective unit from the units available in the degree or other graduate diplomas offered by the faculty provided the necessary prerequisites are satisfied. Many students will need to take a unit in either management or marketing as their elective to satisfy the professional requirements within the framework of the certificate.

Professional recognition

As this course is primarily designed to allow graduates in the banking and finance industries to satisfy the educational requirements for entry to senior associate status with the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance, applicants should approach that organisation to obtain clear guidance - given their educational background and experience - of the units to be selected to achieve this purpose. Some students may be able to satisfy these requirements by completing the certificate. Other students may need to advance to the diploma upon completion of the certificate.
