Work and Technology (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit is a basic introduction to the concepts, theories and research developed in sociological studies of work and technology. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the fundamental influences work and technology have on societies. The influence of working life and technological development on the social careers of individuals will also be emphasised.

Assessment: Assignment one (1500 words): 35% + Assignment two (1000 words): 25% + Examination (2 hours): 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week (1-hour lecture, 1-hour tutorial)

Prerequisites: SCY1801 and SCY1802 or equivalent

Prohibitions: GSC2204, GSC3204, SCY3804
