PSY1011Psychology 1A (6 points)(MED) Leader: Dr Russell Conduit (Caulfield), Dr Tom Edwards ( Clayton)
Offered: Synopsis: Introduction to the discipline of psychology as a behavioural science. Topics include personality, the biological bases of behaviour, sensation and perception, an introduction to theories of learning and development, plus an introduction to the historical origins of the discipline. Laboratory classes enhance students' understanding of the lecture material and provide training in research techniques. Assessment: Laboratory work: 20% + Essay: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 50% + Hurdle requirement: 75% attendance Contact Hours: Three 1-hour lectures and a 2-hour laboratory class per fortnight Off-campus attendance requirements: Off-campus students must complete a minimum of 12 hours on-campus weekend school laboratory work Prohibitions: WEL1320, WEL1340, BHS1320, BHS1340, GSC1306, GSC1307, APY1910 and any first-level psychology units taught at Monash prior to 1998 |
