Synopsis: Overview of different theories & disciplinary perspectives informing public health principles & practices in western societies, past and present. Examines theories of knowledge, social movements, political & social organizations, natural & human disasters & disease shaping contemporary public health perspectives and practices. Current organizational structures for public health policy development and service delivery at local, state & national levels. Foundation for contextual understanding of public health research, policy development & program planning and implementation.
