Synopsis: The unit introduces concepts and theories of e-government including: delivery of government services, the four stages of e-government, one-way provision of information, two-way communication, the use of the Internet for exchange such as renewing licenses, single portal for all government - electronic procurement, the Singapore e-citizen initiative, Multi Service Express in Victoria, UK Online, privacy issues, the digital divide between the information-rich and information-poor, and the debate over electronic democracy.

Assessment: Research paper (4000 words): 50% + Essay (2500 words): 30% + Seminar presentation and related paper (1500 words): 20%

Contact Hours: 3-hour class per week

Prerequisites: MGX9270 and must have passed four 9000-level units
