Organisational wellness (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit is designed to develop students' awareness of current theoretical perspectives on organisational wellness, and of empirical evaluations of organisational initiatives designed to foster a state of improved wellbeing at both the individual and organisational level. The unit will commence with a macro-level view of an organisation's social, ethical and environmental responsibility. This will be followed by an examination of organisational level initiatives to manage the issue of stress and wellbeing including the use of Employee Assistance Programs, work/life initiatives, health promotion programs and OH&S initiatives. At the micro-level the unit will address strategies at the level of the individual employee to manage their own state of wellness.

Assessment: Individual assignment: 20% Group Report: 40% Examination: 40%

Contact Hours: Three hours class contact per week

Prerequisites: MGW1010 and 72 credit points of study
