Organisational change (6 points)

Synopsis: Introduction - organisation development, change and management; organisation development and metaphor. Change dynamics - consultant-client relationships; organisational diagnosis and the metaphoric gap; action research. Types of change - organisational interventions (some choicepoints); organisational learning (linking individual and organisational change). Why change doesn't happen - resistance to change; understanding systems implications; institutionalisation (conversion to new beliefs?). Integration - change and management, reflection, reframing, revision.

Assessment: Individual assignments (total 3500 words): 30% + Group work: 25% + Class participation: 5% + Examination (2 hours): 40%

Contact Hours: 1-hour lecture and 2-hour tutorial

Prerequisites: MGF1010 or MGX1010 or MGX1300
