International industrial relations (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit provides a comparative study of industrial relations in different countries, and examines similarities and differences in national industrial relations systems. Emphasis is given to Australia's trading partners among developed eastern and western market economies. Issues include industrial relations in multinational enterprises; international labour standards; influence of economic, political, social and cultural environments; management strategies; international unionism.

Assessment: Written (assignment 3000 words): 30% + Tutorial paper: 20% + Examination (2 hours): 50%

Contact Hours: 2-hour lecture per week and one 1-hour tutorial per week

Prerequisites: MGC2410 or permission
