Environmental fluid mechanics (6 points)

Synopsis: Introduction to the principles of tides, estuarine flows, waves, fluid mixing, dilution of wastes, plume motions. Planning and conducting a field data collection exercise: scientific plan, calibrations, equipment, logistics, data analysis and modelling, reporting.

Assessment: Written: 50% + Fieldwork: 50%

Contact Hours: 16 lecture hours, 8 tutorial hours and 48 fieldwork hours

Corequisites: MEC3465 (or MAE3965)
