Synopsis: The major steps in litigation. Using the Rules of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the chronology of a civil proceeding from the decision to sue until the matter is ready for trial.

Assessment: First and summer semesters: Final examination: 100%. Alternatively final examination: 75% and either drafting test or research paper: 25% Second semester: Class test: 25% + final examination (3 hours): 75% OR Class test: 25% + final examination: 50% and either case study or drafting pleadings exercise: 25%

Contact Hours: Three hours of lectures per week and 6 hours of drafting tutorials (optional)
