Synopsis: This unit explores the role of radio and television news and current affairs in society. Students consider the ways news reporting and editing can contribute to the construction of meaning. The unit also includes news production and journalism fieldwork.

Assessment: Critical essay: 20% + Radio news script (2 minutes): 20% + TV Script (6 minutes): 20% + Live radio or TV program 40%
