The Renaissance in Florence (12 points)

Synopsis: A study, conducted in the city itself, of the political, social and cultural history of Florence, from the late thirteenth to the early sixteenth centuries, with particular reference to the Renaissance period. Students who have not passed HSY1010 and HSY1020 should do the preliminary reading with great care.

Assessment: Site visit (1000 words), Site visit critique (500 words), Critiques of other site visit presentations (1000 words), Essay (4500 words): 75% + Examination (2 hours): 25%

Contact Hours: Intensive lectures, tutorials and field trips for 35 hours per week, over 1 month (November/December)

Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in History or permission
