Synopsis: The subject will review some basic concepts and laws of engineering thermodynamics and discuss the thermodynamic processes/cycles of steam power plants, positive displacement machines, nozzles, gas turbines and internal combustion engines.

Assessment: Examination: 60% + Assignments: 40%

Contact Hours: 39 hours lecture/tutorials/laboratory, 13 hours supported self-study

Prerequisites: VCE Units 3 & 4 Chemistry or ENG1701
