Family Centred Practice: Critical Issues (12 points)

Synopsis: The unit offers close study of contemporary developments in approaches to family centred practice - psychodynamic, solution focused and integrative. The critical practice concerns of alcohol and drug abuse, mental illness, divorce, violence and sexual abuse are studied within the contexts of cultural, community and organisational settings, and specific client populations. Students are encouraged to continue their exploration of the impact of their own family on their professional and personal life experiences and to integrate this knowledge into professional family centred practice.

Assessment: Literature review (2000 words): 25% + Presentation (30 minutes) and Report (1,000 words): 25% + Project (4500 words): 50%
