Sedimentation and Volcanism in Crustal Evolution (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit consists of two parts which will be presented consecutively; both are compulsory. Sedimentation: will comprise material concerning the roles of climate, tectonics and volcanism in sediment generation. Physical volcanology: will address volcanic eruption styles and processes, and the variety and characteristics or eruption products.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 40% + Practical work: 30% + Fieldwork: 20% + Seminar: 10%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 3-hour practical class per week, and one 3-day field excursion

Prerequisites: ESC2011 or ESC2041 or ESC2122 or permission of head
