Method and Practice of Teaching History B (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit builds on EDF5442. Seminars introduce further teaching, learning and assessment strategies, and include unit-planning, using a variety of primary and secondary sources, incorporating the theories of Bloom, Gardner and de Bono, teaching VCE histories, and responding to state and national curriculum priorities in the teaching of history or SOSE.

Assessment: Unit of work: 50%; Oral presentation: 50% + Student participation in the unit is vital and there is a minimum attendance requirement of 80%. Teaching practice also forms a major part of the assessment of this unit. Grad.Dip.Ed.(Sec.) students must complete at least 45 days teaching practice; BEd. students must complete at least 50 days. Students in both courses must gain a rating of satisfactory for teaching practice.
