Issues in Child Development (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit will consider a range of current issues and provide an overview of theories of the growth and development of children across different domains (e.g., cognitive, emotional, physical, social and language) along with theories of learning. The unit will emphasise the need for students to consider themselves as both learners and researchers examining ways in which these factors assist their own professional development, skills, backgrounds, values and attitudes, as well as the developmental needs of individual children within the early childhood years.

Assessment: Task 1: A seminar presentation: 15% + A written report: (1800 words) 30% + Task 2: A written analysis (2200 words): 55%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: EDF5414 Child development principles

Corequisites: EDF5412 Field expereience
