Child Development Principles (6 points)

Synopsis: Focus on the overall development of children aged 0 - 5 years, and the implications of development for learning, teaching and other aspects of practice in early childhood services. Emphasis on the inter-relation of areas or domains of development and impacting factors so that students gain a comprehensive picture of children at various developmental stages and ages. Will emphasise the need for students to critically reflect on their understanding and knowledge of child development as a basis for responding to individuals and groups of children and in designing, utilising and undertaking valid and reliable assessment.

Assessment: A Case Study on the development of a pre-school child (2000 words): 50% + Research Essay in relation to child development issues (2000 words): 50%
